International Technology Company, Continental, inaugurated a Rs 1,000-crore campus for its Technical Centre India in the presence of Dr C. N. Ashwath Narayan, Minister for Electronics, Information Technology - Biotechnology, Science and Technology, Higher Education, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood, Government of Karnataka.

With the capacity to accommodate over 6,500 employees, the one-million-square-foot state-of-the-art campus is located at Electronic City Phase II, Bengaluru. The development of the new TCI campus is executed in such a way that it houses hi-tech software, hardware, and vehicle test facilities for R&D and a plethora of training centres, all of which contribute to furthering the scope of innovation.

The centre is known to have a strong labour force and is Continental's largest and key R&D location globally, looking after the needs of both global and local markets. Established in 2009, the centre has developed itself over the years both in terms of people and proficiencies. TCI will extend its services to five key automotive business areas: autonomous mobility, architecture & networking, safety and motion, smart mobility, and user experience.

At the campus inauguration, Prashanth Doreswamy, President and CEO, Continental India, said, "We have made significant investments here in the last few years, including greenfield manufacturing plants and the expansion of production lines for vehicle electronics for passenger cars and two-wheelers."

Talking about the TCI vision, Latha Chembrakalam, Head of Technical Center India, Continental Automotive, added, "Technology and its multiplier effect drive business transformations, competitive advantages, and newer customer experiences."

She further added, "TCI will continue to have a larger role to play in Continental's efforts to define the future of mobility, and our engineers play a key role in placing India on the global automotive R&D map."

TCI has an engineering workforce that is largely focused on providing advanced automobile safety technologies, autonomous driving, connected mobility technologies, and many other future mobility trends. The centre also actively collaborates with top Indian engineering institutions for the purpose of conducting pioneering research and building competencies where innovation in niche areas is concerned.
