The move is aimed at accelerating India's net-zero transition.

CLASP and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) joined forces to support India's move towards Net Zero Carbon Emissions by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the 14th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM14) side-event. The event was attended by members of the Ministry of Power, Bureau of Energy Efficiency, and State ministers from Andhra Pradesh and Orissa, among others.

During the event, EESL's CEO, Vishal Kapoor, unveiled the ambitious 10 million Energy-Efficient Fans programme, aimed at transforming India's market for energy-efficient ceiling fans. By enhancing the efficiency of residential ceiling fans, India could potentially save 15 per cent of its residential power consumption annually.

Under the agreement, CLASP will provide technical assistance and capacity building to EESL on Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC) to support the ceiling fans market transformation programme.

Vishal Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer, EESL, said, "By pooling our expertise and resources with experts, we will accelerate the pace of India's transition towards clean energy solutions. EESL remains dedicated to promoting a clean, sustainable, and inclusive energy future, while addressing the challenges and opportunities associated with energy efficiency."

Bishal Thapa, Senior Director, CLASP, said, "A programme of this scale and nature is a true representation of the collaboration needed to keep our planet cool amid rising temperatures."
