The Aerospace business of Godrej Enterprises Group has signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EOS, a global leader in industrial 3D printing solutions, to establish a cutting-edge Additive Manufacturing (AM) ecosystem for the Indian aviation and space industries.
This partnership aims to revolutionise aerospace manufacturing in India by leveraging AM-driven designs to enhance product functionality and efficiency. With EOS boasting the largest AM global install base in space technology, the collaboration merges technological expertise with advanced manufacturing capabilities. Together, Godrej Enterprises Group and EOS will develop the technical know-how and production capacity necessary to build a robust AM-powered aerospace supply chain, serving both Indian and global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
Maneck Behramkamdin, Executive Vice President and Business Head of the Aerospace division at Godrej & Boyce, part of Godrej Enterprises Group, stated, "This partnership is a strategic move towards future readiness. 3D printing is transforming aerospace design, enabling the creation of complex shapes and structures through a single printing process. We remain committed to expanding our portfolio of sustainable products while enhancing manufacturing value through material efficiency and streamlined processes."
Vinu Vijayan, Director of EOS India, highlighted, "AM has undeniably transformed the space industry. We are already witnessing conventionally manufactured assemblies, comprising over 100 parts, being simplified into just three or four components via AM. This innovation reduces complexity, optimises assembly, and lowers costs. We have also successfully developed and certified the first flight-safety-critical Class 2 titanium part for a passenger aircraft—the highest qualification level in aerospace."
