To enable delivery of safer products to consumers in India under the BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme

TUV Rheinland India announced that its Gurgaon testing lab at location 417 has been recognised by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) to conduct testing of Electronics and IT products.

As per the BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme, no person shall manufacture or store for sale, import, or distribute goods which do not conform to the Indian Standards specified in the order. BIS initially started with 15 categories of electronic items in 2012. Another 15 product categories were added in 2014. Subsequently 13 more product categories were also added in 2017. Manufacturers of these products are required to apply for registration from BIS after getting their product tested from a BIS recognized lab like TUV Rheinland India. BIS then registers the manufacturers under its CRS who are then permitted to declare that their products conform to the Indian Standard.

"As a global testing, inspection, certification provider, we support the cause of safer products to consumers in India. We are proud to be associated with BIS and help them in their objective to provide safe reliable quality goods thereby minimizing health hazards to consumers through standardization, certification and testing. TUV Rheinland's state-of-the-art, product safety laboratory in Gurgaon is well equipped to test all electronic and IT products as per CRS. Our labs have the infrastructure and the required competencies to support OEMs, designers and manufacturers, and enable them to reduce product developmental cycle and improve speed-to-market," said Thomas Fuhrmann, Managing Director of TUV Rheinland India.
