Honeywell UOP was founded in Chicago in 1914 to commercialize the first process technology for the mass production of gasoline. The company introduced catalysis to the refining industry in 1933, and later created the core technologies for the modern petrochemicals industry.
In India, Honeywell UOP has been supporting India's growth in the oil and gas sector for nearly a century, from helping commission the country's first oil and gas refinery in Digboi in the 1930s to Reliance's Jamnagar refinery (the world's largest oil refining hub) in the state of Gujarat. Honeywell UOP technologies are also helping Indian refiners leapfrog from BS IV to BS VI norm by the year 2020.
Based in the Chicago suburb of Des Plaines, UOP has 29 offices and other facilities around the world and has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Honeywell since 2005.
