Speaking at the event as Chief Guest, Shri Kumaraswamy said that a strong machine tool industry is vital for a robust manufacturing sector. He highlighted that Karnataka produces approximately 50 per cent of India's machine tools, earning it the title of the "machine tool capital of India." He added that the industry, as part of the capital goods sector, contributes significantly to India's economy while also generating employment.
Dr. M.B. Patil, Special Guest of Honour, described the machine tool sector as the cornerstone of manufacturing, emphasising the growth of the metal-cutting segment as a key driver.
Laxmesh B.H. remarked that IMTEX serves as a confluence of great ideas and minds, driving the growth of manufacturing in India. Mr. Prashanth Doreswamy stated that the machine tool industry is a crucial contributor to various industries, especially the automotive sector, which consumes around 55 per cent of machine tool production in India.
In his welcome address, Jamshyd N. Godrej described this as the largest-ever IMTEX, with overwhelming support from exhibitors and visitors. He also underscored the importance of the long-awaited metro connectivity to BIEC, which is expected to further boost exhibitions and events.
Rajendra S. Rajamane highlighted that India ranks 9th in machine tool production and 6th in consumption globally, as per Gardner Intelligence's World Machine Tool Survey 2023. The industry's production has grown by approximately 10 per cent year-on-year, reaching Rs13,571 crore (around US $1.6 billion).
IMTEX 2025, held from 23 to 29 January 2025, brings together machine tool user industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators from across the globe to explore actionable solutions for the future. The exhibition features cutting-edge technologies, ambitious expansion initiatives, and investment opportunities aligned with global business goals.
Machine tool builders are presenting products such as smart and intelligent machines, high-precision and high-performance equipment, multi-tasking and hybrid machines, robots, cobots, AGVs, tools, accessories, manufacturing software, 3D printers, Industry 4.0 solutions, and more.
In addition to the exhibits, several programmes have been organised during IMTEX 2025. The International Seminar on Machining Technologies (24–25 January) will feature global experts sharing insights on emerging trends and best practices in metal cutting. The i2 Academia Pavilion offers Indian academic and R&D institutions a platform to showcase their research for commercial application.
The Auto Components Industry Transformation Summit (26 January), organised by IMTMA and the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), is expected to strengthen collaboration between the machine tool and auto component industries.
