Symphony enters 'Large Cap' league with market cap crossing Rs5,000 crore

World's largest air cooler company Symphony Ltd has now entered in to the league of ‘Large Cap' category stocks. The Ahmedabad based company has made tremendous turnaround in a decade's time and crossed Rs5,000 crore market capitalisation.

Symphony Ltd has risen from the brink of going bankrupt in the year 2002 after which it exited from all product categories and focused only on air coolers with a clear vision, constant thinking, creativity and innovation. Further, in the year 2008, Symphony Ltd acquired Mexico based Impco Air Coolers, World's first cooler manufacturing company that patented the cooling technology called ‘Evaporative Cooling'.

Company is market leader in the in the Indian air cooler industry with 50% market share (value terms) among the organised players. At Symphony, the strategy is ‘One Product Many Markets' and this strategy has paid off well over last decade. Company sells air coolers under its own brand name in over 60 countries.

Symphony Ltd possess largest number of trademarks and registered designs in the international air cooler industry with 108 trademarks, 49 registered designs, 7 copyrights and 8 patents. The company has been awarded Guinness World Record for creating the world's largest functioning air coolers.

Market capitalisation of Symphony Ltd has crossed Rs. 5,000 crore on Friday from Rs. 2.80 crore a decade ago. Promoter holding in the company stands at 75% while institutions hold 6.47% in the company (Mutual funds, DII, etc. at 2.66% and FIIs at 3.81%) and retail investors hold 10.39% in the company.

For the year ended June 2014, company posted net profit of Rs 105.72 crore on turnover of Rs 532.42 crore. In the last 5 years, company has managed CAGR of 34% in sales and 30% in net profit. Company has reserves and surplus of Rs. 268.84 crore as on June 2014.
