The Institution of Engineers (IEI, India) and The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers [IEEE] have signed a cooperation agreement in the presence of the Presidents of the two leading professional associations recently in Bengaluru.
President, Dr. L V Muralikrishna Reddy highlighted the internationalization efforts of the institution to integrate with the global engineering fraternity; and promote the contribution of the Indian engineering community to the advancement of the engineering profession. He underscored the emphasis of the institution on the practising engineers' perspective to integrate technologies and develop solutions, services, and products for societal needs.
President, IEEE, Dr. Howard Michel highlighted the research engineers' perspective of the IEEE fraternity, their contribution to developing standards and technologies to the growth of engineering and how IEEE fosters engineering excellence globally to bridge the gaps between the academia, research and industry for advancement of appropriate technologies for the benefit of humanity.
Ramakrishna Kappagantu, Director, Region 10 (Asia-Pacific) and IEEE Board Member highlighted the long-standing relations between the two professional bodies. Mr. Ramakrishna introduced the efforts of IEEE in collaborating with other national societies and described the IEEE JANS Award (Joint Award by National Societies), which recognizes engineering contribution par excellence locally.
