The competition for The Machinist Super Shopfloor 2015 Awards is heating up with nominations flowing in steadily from all corners of the country. Whether it is big automotive OEMs like Hyundai and Volkswagen or whether it is diversified industrial players like Escorts or whether it is truck majors like AMW and VECV, some of the biggest manufacturing brands have already sent in their nominations.
Of course, these are just a few names that we are sharing at this stage. Plus, we also have some encouraging entries in the SME segment as well.
To ensure that the nominations are evaluated in a fair, transparent and objective manner, a team of eminent jury members is in place. These elite experts will gather in Pune on April 29 and tell us the names of the winners in different categories.
With ‘Make in India' becoming a clarion call, it is not surprising that our awards programme has acquired this distinct flavour. "In order to fulfil the dream of "Make in India", it is important that Shopfloor best practices are recognised and rewarded through a transparent yet rigorous assessment process.
"However, it is more important that these best practices are widely circulated and made known across the manufacturing industries so that these could be adopted by them. This will set off a chain reaction of continuous improvement which will eventually make Indian manufacturing industry globally competitive," says one of our jury members, Santanoo Medhi, MD & CEO, Premium Transmission Ltd.
