Blaser announces winners of Productivity Trophy 2015 | 2016

By Niranjan Mudholkar,

Added 27 June 2016

Awarded to five manufacturing companies in India.

About the Trophy winners and the projects completed-

Egger Pumps

Egger Pumps is a Swiss based industrial enterprise, founded in 1947, with a focus on the development and manufacturing of pumps and Iris® diaphragm control valves.

Their manufacturing process in India includes machining of difficult-to-cut materials like Hastelloy, Ni-Hard Steel & Hard Iron HG 25.3 with hardness ranging up to 60 HRC. Drilling and tapping of these materials was a major challenge.

Possible benefits with Liquid Tool inspired connection between Blaser Swisslube and Egger Pumps to work on the optimization of tool costs.

As a result of test on first two machines, Liquid Tool was able to provide an optimization in tool costs to the tune of 35% to 50% respectively which resulted into an annual saving of INR 1.3 million with improved machinability.

QH Talbros Limited

QH Talbros Limited, founded in year 1986, meets the steering and suspension requirements for all segments including passenger cars, utility vehicles, tractors, off-highway vehicles, light & heavy commercial vehicles for OEMs in India and overseas.

In quest of optimization, Blaser Swisslube approached QH Talbros, IMT Manesar plant, to share its philosophy of maximizing the profitability by leveraging the investment in Liquid Tool.

On mutual agreement, few machines were identified to test the Liquid Tool and deliverables were set through a holistic stepwise approach in overall manufacturing process. The initial detailed tests on overall cost considering production quantity, quality, toolings and coolant were very encouraging. Few critical and expensive operations of drilling, tapping & threading were monitored closely and gave an improvement ranging from 4% to 15% on turning and machining centers.

Ognibene

Ognibene is headquartered in Italy with dedicated production of steering systems to the world's largest manufacturers of tractors, excavators, material handling equipment and other various applications.

A project was set up at their Indian facility to experience the Liquid Tool based on Blasocut concept.

A unique Bio Concept of water miscible Blasocut emulsions works in harmony with nature & remains biologically stable naturally without the need to add any bactericides.

As a result, machine operators felt happy to work with Blasocut emulsion.

It also helped in achieving 4-fold improvement in sump life & reducing the disposal volume by 24,000 litres.

Thanks to Leverage effect of Liquid Tool, teams of Ognibene & Blaser worked together to realize productivity improvement through cycle time reduction. Saving of 5% to 11% was achieved.

TBK

TBK, with its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan is a well-established group founded in 1949 & is a major player in the field of brakes, water pumps & oil pumps for engine.

In its pursuit of striving for growth, productivity and reducing overall manufacturing cost, TBK India approached Blaser Swisslube for discussion on the possibility of improvements. Blaser Swisslube shared a new dimension in productivity with its value proposition of Liquid Tool to work on reducing the cut time & increasing the output from machines.

The machines were identified for the test and as a result cut time reduction was achieved in the range of 8% to 35%.

Based upon the encouraging initial results it was decided to deploy the solution on 22 machines.

Quality of machining also got improved significantly and rejections in machining went down by 60%.

RSB Transmissions

RSB Transmissions is a passionate story of its people, values and indomitable spirit of faith and innovation. It is the story of an ever-growing vibrant family that is founded on ethics, anchored on humanism, energized by passion & driven by the spirit of excellence.

As one of the trusted partners, Blaser Swisslube was called by RSB Transmission for a discussion on the optimization of overall costs. Team from Blaser India studied the full machining process & created a process map for identifying the possible areas to work upon.

Keeping in view the high possibilities of improvements in machining process with Liquid Tool proposition, a proposal was made to RSB Transmission for establishing a secure process which would help in lowering the overall machining cost as well. Few machines were identified with all critical operations for test. On completion of the test, productivity of the machining process got improved in the range of 2% to 18% resulting in to a saving of INR 1.5 million per annum.

The process became more secure due to elimination of rejection on account of corrosion on one of the components.

Customized trainings were imparted to the process owners for proper handling and care of the Blasocut emulsions to ensure negligible down time of machines on account of coolant.
