“Godrej with Tamil Nadu Government to set up FMCG Manufacturing Unit”

In a significant stride towards boosting the manufacturing landscape of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in Tamil Nadu, the State government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) for the establishment of an advanced manufacturing unit in the Chengalpattu district.

Under the visionary leadership of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, the MoU was formalised with a ceremony held at the Secretariat, where key stakeholders witnessed this collaboration. The unit, located near Tiruporur, is poised to be a source of economic growth and employment generation, with an investment of Rs 515 crore dedicated to its development.

GCPL's Executive Chairperson, Nisaba Godrej, expressed, " This facility aims to have an inclusive and gender balanced workforce. Our plan is to employ 50 per cent of women for this facility along with 5 per cent of employees from LGBTQ and people with disability (PWD) communities." Further, the unit is expected to provide employment for more than 400 people.

Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa artilculated that the establishment of this Godrej unit resonates with the government's commitment to bolster the FMCG manufacturing sector within the state.

Sudhir Sitapati, GCPL's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer further highlighted that the unit serves as a platform to facilitate the production of an array of products including Cinthol, Godrej Expert Rich Crème, Godrej Selfie Shampoo Hair Colour, and Goodknight.
