“Siemens unveils Solid Edge 2025 and Solid Edge X”

Siemens Digital Industries Software announced the 2025 release of Solid Edge® software, bringing enhanced capabilities to its product development suite. This release also introduces Solid Edge® X, delivering Solid Edge in a cloud-enabled, secure Software as a Service (SaaS) environment, augmented with new AI-enabled tools for smarter workflows.

"The release of Solid Edge X aligns with Siemens' strategic goal to offer our industry-leading software as a service," said John Miller, Senior Vice President, Mainstream Engineering, Siemens Digital Industries Software. "This release provides toolsets that are open, accessible, and scalable to meet customer demands. Solid Edge brings transformative technologies by integrating cloud-based collaboration with advanced AI-powered tools, enabling our customers to innovate at the accelerated pace today's manufacturing sector requires."

Solid Edge 2025 includes a range of enhancements to increase modelling speed, refine sheet metal design capabilities, and simplify Model Based Definition (MBD) workflows.

"Solid Edge 2025 is incredibly intuitive. With streamlined workflows, we can design with fewer keystrokes, making us more productive and saving valuable time," said Michael Orr, Design Drafter at Ariel Corporation. "It far exceeded my expectations."

 Introducing Solid Edge X

Solid Edge X offers the power of Solid Edge software in a secure SaaS format, making features accessible from any device and simplifying IT management with automatic updates. With cloud-based data management supported by Siemens' industry-leading Teamcentre® software, users can collaborate across engineering and manufacturing disciplines, wherever they are.

The new AI-powered functionality in Solid Edge X provides real-time assistance to minimise disruptions in engineering workflows. This capability, available next year, enables in-app help tailored to users' immediate needs, keeping engineers focused on their tasks.

 Enhanced MBD Creation and Customisation

Solid Edge 2025's new hybrid annotation capability supports efficient, accurate Model Based Definition. Engineers can quickly add dimensions and feature control frames, ensuring consistency and minimising errors. Improved customisation options, such as redesigned command bars and enhanced toolbars, allow users to tailor the interface to streamline their workflows.

The new Discovery Centre provides a centralised hub with resources, learning materials, and free trials, directly accessible within the product for a seamless experience.

 Advanced Sheet Metal Design

Solid Edge 2025 strengthens its industry-leading sheet metal functionality with updates for handling complex geometries. Improved bend calculations allow for accurate part creation, while new etch features now support curved faces and automatic etching placement, enhancing precision and workflow efficiency.

Collaboration and Teamcentre Integration

Solid Edge includes collaboration tools integrated with the Teamcentre® Share app, part of Siemens' Xcelerator as a Service. Teamcentre Share allows seamless collaboration, task tracking, and project management within Solid Edge, supporting files up to 500GB.

For organisations advancing digital transformation, Solid Edge 2025 enhances integration with Siemens' Teamcentre® PLM software. Managed data loads up to 50 per cent  faster, allowing users quicker access to complex datasets. Integrated Material Management enables customers to define managed material data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and traceability—key for optimising material usage and supporting sustainability goals.

 Electrical Schematics with Capital X

Solid Edge 2025 integrates with Capital™ Electra™ X, Siemens' cloud-native tool for electrical design, offering an intuitive platform that simplifies electrical schematics and reduces overhead costs.

 Enhanced Machining and Simulation Capabilities

Solid Edge® CAM Pro software improvements streamline part programming, while automatic hole machining aids in selecting prismatic features, simplifying programming and toolpath creation. Enhanced integration with Simcenter™ FLOEFD™ software simplifies fluid flow and heat transfer analysis for faster, more precise performance evaluation.

Seamless Interoperability with NX and IFC Support

Interoperability between Solid Edge and NX™ allows seamless data sharing, while new support for International Foundation Class (IFC) file types enables efficient information exchange in the construction industry.
