“Musashi seimitsu partners with Log9 materials to revolutionise EV powertrain and battery solutions”

Musashi Seimitsu Industry Co., Ltd., Japan, the parent company of Musashi India and a leading manufacturer of transmission components for two- and four-wheelers, has announced a strategic partnership with Log9 Materials, an advanced battery technology company. The collaboration is poised to revolutionise the electric vehicle (EV) market by combining Musashi's high-performance e-Axle system with Log9's cutting-edge battery technology, creating an integrated powertrain solution specifically for electric two- and three-wheelers.

The partnership aims to tackle key challenges in EV energy management, scalability, and service reliability, while enhancing overall performance and durability. By integrating battery packs with e-Axles, the solution is designed to reduce energy losses common in conventional powertrains, thereby extending vehicle range and improving performance under varied driving conditions, particularly in densely populated urban areas.

Targeting Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), this collaboration aspires to set new benchmarks for efficiency and innovation within the EV sector, catering to both Indian and global markets.

Mr. Pankaj Sharma, Co-Founder of Log9 Materials, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We are thrilled to join hands with Musashi in advancing high-end engineering solutions for electric vehicles. By blending Musashi's expertise in energy-efficient motion conversion with our state-of-the-art battery technology, we aim to deliver the most efficient powertrain solutions to the market. Both companies share a common vision of decarbonising the world through innovative technology, and this collaboration reinforces our aligned goals and future objectives."

Mr. Hiroshi Otsuka, President and Group CEO of Musashi, described the partnership as a pivotal step in reshaping the electric mobility landscape. "By collaborating with Log9, we are committed to delivering a comprehensive, high-performance solution tailored for electric two- and three-wheelers. Our aim is to address critical market gaps, offering an integrated system that enhances energy efficiency, optimises synergy between battery and drivetrain systems, and sets new standards for sustainability and innovation."

A central feature of the collaboration is the implementation of a centralised service model for the integrated battery and e-Axle systems, which promises to minimise repair downtime and enhance customer satisfaction by offering quicker service turnaround. This model sets new benchmarks in powertrain development, ensuring that electric mobility becomes more efficient and accessible to a wider range of consumers, particularly in regions such as India and Southeast Asia, where two- and three-wheelers are crucial for transportation and last-mile deliveries.

The partnership is also set to expand into global markets, including Southeast Asia and Africa, supported by a robust after-sales service network in major Indian cities. Musashi's entry into the EV sector aligns with its broader strategic goals of fostering innovation and contributing to global carbon emission reduction efforts. This collaboration is expected to accelerate EV adoption by providing high-performance solutions that will drive the transition towards sustainable transportation.
