Statiq, India's leading EV charging network, launched a free charging campaign in Karnataka through the Statiq app. The initiative is aimed at expediting the uptake of electric vehicles (EVs) and advocating for cleaner energy options.
Taking into consideration that users opt for home charging and are hesitant to explore public charging options for long-distance or intercity travel, Statiq aims to encourage users to give it a try through the campaign.
With over 400+ EV charging points already operational in Karnataka, Statiq reaffirms its commitment to catering to the diverse needs of EV users across the region. These installations are equipped to charge a wide spectrum of electric vehicles, including popular models such as Tata Nexon, MG EVZS, Tata Tiago EV, and more.
The campaign comes at a pivotal moment in India's automotive landscape, with a recent report by Counterpoint Research indicating a surge in EV sales. According to it, India's EV sales nearly doubled to account for 2 per cent of the overall PV sales. Projections indicate that EV sales are expected to rise by 66 per cent in 2024, signalling a robust long-term growth trajectory for the country's automotive sector.
Statiq's impressive track record is evident, boasting 7,000+ deployed EV chargers across tier 1, tier 2, and tier 3 cities in India. With an ambitious vision, the company aims to scale up to 20,000 EV charging stations by the end of 2025.
Commenting on the campaign, Akshit Bansal, Founder & CEO of Statiq, stated, "The ambitious goal set by India to achieve net zero by 2070, as highlighted at UNFCC COP26, highlights the essential contribution of EVs. Statiq remains committed to providing cleaner energy through state-of-the-art and innovative EV charging solutions across India in the coming months and years. Through this campaign, we aim to raise more awareness so that more people choose the EV way, while simultaneously increasing our visibility in the South market."
Ashish Aggarwal, Director, Product Growth and Marketing, Statiq, added, "Amidst the dynamic evolution of the EV market, it's imperative for us to amplify market exposure and accessibility to EV charging infrastructure. With the anticipation of Tesla's entry into the Indian market and Elon Musk's visit this month, industry experts foresee substantial growth in the Indian EV sector. Our decision to offer free charging in Karnataka goes beyond mere convenience; it's a strategic move to boost sustainable mobility forward. Existing EV users benefit from firsthand experience with our dependable infrastructure, while prospective users are urged to embrace the electric revolution. This initiative also elevates Statiq's market presence, especially in South India. By showcasing our commitment to innovation and sustainability, we're confident this campaign will drive positive change in the automotive industry and contribute to a cleaner future for all."
Last year, Statiq unveiled a pioneering feature which empowers users with real-time insights by consolidating crucial information within the Statiq app. Unlike traditional telematics solutions, it offers a comprehensive suite of features, including total kilometres travelled for enhanced journey tracking, remaining range updates for stress-free route planning, and a charging indicator for efficient daily scheduling, eliminating the need for multiple OEM apps. Additionally, the current Location option provides real-time tracking, bolstering security and offering valuable insights into the vehicle's whereabouts.
