Modi inspires investors and entrepreneurs in Canada

Earlier in Ottawa, Modi had sought Canada's cooperation and investment in every area of India's national development priority, specially mentioning Energy and Infrastructure, Manufacturing and Skills, Smart Cities and agro-industry, and Research and Education. He said "Few countries in the world can match Canada's potential to be a partner in India's economic transformation. And, it exists in a new environment in India, which is open, predictable, stable and easy to do business in. Equally, the vast scale of India's transformation, and our rapid economic growth, offers immense opportunities for Canada."

In his remarks during a meeting with 30 influential members of the business community, Modi described the relationship between Canada and India, as a bonding of capabilities and possibilities - saamarthya aur sambhaavnaayein. He said if capabilities and possibilities came together, they could together scale new heights. He urged Canadian businesses to explore new avenues in India, and spoke about the range of decisions taken by the Indian Government over the last ten months, to boost investment. These include raising FDI caps in Railways and Insurance, the Smart Cities initiative, the Clean Ganga initiative, and solid waste management and waste water treatment in 500 cities and towns.

Modi further said that the combination of democracy, demography, and demand make India the most suitable location for Canadian companies to expand their businesses.
