On April 24, DOMO Chemicals, a global leader in engineered materials, celebrated the inauguration of a new compounding line at its Indian facility in Mahape, Navi Mumbai. The new line is a reflection of DOMO Chemicals' commitment to innovation and growth in the engineered materials industry in India.
Driven by strong demand for its polyamide-based solutions across the automotive, electrical & electronics, consumer and industrial goods sectors, DOMO Chemicals has experienced impressive double-digit growth in its overall Asian operations and is therefore expanding its capacity across Asia.
"This new line is another milestone in our commitment to growth and innovation in the Asia region. With a gradual total capacity of 8 KT of high-quality engineered materials based on polyamide, our state-of-the-art factory is now equipped with the latest technology to serve our customers in India. It is fantastic that we were able to celebrate this milestone in the presence of some of our key customers," said Fabrizio Cochi, General Manager Asia.
DOMO Chemicals has been active in Navi Mumbai since 2016. Its technical centre is equipped with advanced facilities for the development of new solutions for the Indian market. These include a focus on metal replacement and light-weighting solutions, electrically friendly and flame-retardant materials for e-mobility, food and water contact grades targeting the home appliance market, as well as solutions for automotive cooling.
Expansion in Asia, beyond India
DOMO Chemicals also recently announced a manufacturing contract signed with MIKA INC. for TECHNYL® solutions in South Korea and an ambitious long-term capacity increase in China of up to 50 KT in a brand-new plant in Haiyan, expected to become operational by the second quarter of 2024.
TECHNYL® portfolio expanded to address high demand for e-mobility and sustainable solutions
DOMO Chemicals is the market leader in polyamide-based sustainable solutions. The TECHNYL® 4EARTH® portfolio serves all industries with the highest quality and the widest range of recycled-solutions available on the market today.
Among the recent developments are two new solutions:
• The first is the company's flagship hydrolysis-resistant grade for refrigerant applications called TECHNYL® 4EARTH® A1E 218 V30 BK 34NG LP which offers a sustainable and high performance alternative to TECHNYL® A 218 V30 BK 34NG.
• The second is the new generation of TECHNYL® 4EARTH® HFFR (halogen-free flame retardants), a unique line of recycled-based solutions for the electrical and electronics market (E&E), available in both grey and white. These flame retardant polyamides are made from recycled raw materials, resulting in lower CO2 emissions compared to virgin alternatives.
These new solutions represent a breakthrough for the automotive and E&E markets and demonstrate DOMO Chemicals' commitment to sustainability. They are also essential to the company's undertaking to double sales in circular solutions by 2030, thereby meeting the evolving needs of its customers.
For the e-mobility sector, DOMO offers these innovations:
•TECHNYL® ORANGE shaded solutions with improved electrical performance and processability, together with colour retention capability beyond aging at 130°C for 1000h, and
•TECHNYL® PURE, the range of electrical-friendly solutions ensuring safety-critical functionality by preventing corrosion
Another major focus for the Indian market is polyamide solutions for the photovoltaic industry. For example, DOMO has successfully introduced TECHNYL® PROTECT A 21T4 V25 BK, which is a red phosphorous-based HFFR product that provides a balance between flame retardant, electrical and mechanical properties. Rounding out this product line, TECHNYL® PROTECT AT20 V25 BK and TECHNYL® PROTECT A 50H1 BK provide complete solutions for junction box and connector applications.
All these new and high performing solutions are now part of the TECHNYL® product range, which is available globally and exclusively commercialised and distributed by DOMO.
Ludovic Tonnerre, Chief Commercial Officer of Global Engineered Materials at DOMO Chemicals said: "2023 is the 70th anniversary of the TECHNYL® brand, a polyamide-based range with unparalleled performance attributes. We are strengthening our sustainable development capabilities in Asia with recent enhancements to the TECHNYL® global network and our long-term investment plan to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions to our Indian customers."
