Abhijit Roy, Managing director and CEO of Berger Paints India Ltd., has been elected as the chairman of CII Eastern Region for 2020 - 21. He took over the charge as the Chairman from Chandra Sekhar Ghosh, MD & CEO Bandhan Bank.
This announcement was made in the presence of CII Vice President T.V Narendran, Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of CII and other notable guests and dignitaries in Kolkata.
Abhijit Roy is a Mechanical Engineer from Jadavpur University, Kolkata and an MBA from IIM, Bangalore. He joined Berger Paints in 1996 as a product manager, after enriching stints in multiple companies. He took over as MD and CEO of Berger Paints from July 2012. The meteoric rise of Berger Paint's fortune in the last few years has been largely attributed to his leadership.
The journey of Roy as the Chairman of CII Eastern Region has commenced at a time when the country's GDP is likely to bounce back after a slew of slow GDP growth quarters.
