Will train young women with industry-ready skills.

In August 2014, Samsung signed an MoU with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India to set up ten Technical Schools at MSME Technology Centres across India.

The first School was inaugurated at MSME Extension Centre in New Delhi in August 2014, followed by the second one at the Central Institute of Tool Design, Hyderabad. Samsung has also established one Technical School lab at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Dheerpur, Delhi and four Technical School labs in West Bengal in collaboration with the Department of Training and Technical Education, with plans to open more labs across India.

150 students have graduated from the Samsung Technical Schools in Delhi and Kolkata to date, with over half of them receiving employment offers at Samsung Service Partners, while the remaining will be considered for additional positions as and when they come up. Additionally, Samsung launched ‘Guru Shiksha', a training program to teach ITI teachers on the A.R.I.S.E. program, in early 2014.

Samsung has, over the years, leveraged its legacy of technology innovation through philanthropic initiatives focused on helping communities lead healthier, smarter and more sustainable lives.

In addition to skill development among youth, Samsung also places substantial focus on providing underprivileged children a chance at quality education and in helping bridge the digital gap that exists in India. This is done through Samsung Smart Schools, set up in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas across the length and breadth of the country.

The Smart Classes are equipped with an interactive Samsung whiteboard, Samsung laptops for the students, a printer, wi-fi and a power backup since power outages are common. Over 198 Smart Schools have been set up to date in India, benefitting 75,000 secondary class students. Samsung continues to expand the program based on positive feedback received from the schools on the impact on students learning and attendance.
