Envalior is dedicated to reach its sustainability ambitions that will decrease greenhouse gas emissions by 100 per cent until 2040

Envalior, a leading provider of sustainable engineering materials, has joined the United Nations Global Compact, reinforcing its commitment to corporate sustainability on a global scale. This milestone aligns with Envalior's ambitious sustainability roadmap, which includes achieving a 100 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, part of a larger goal to lead the industry in sustainable manufacturing practices.

Formed through the merger of DSM Engineering Materials and LANXESS High Performance Materials, Envalior leverages its innovative materials solutions across multiple sectors. As part of its new Sustainability Ambitions, Envalior has set key environmental targets, which include:

  • Transitioning to 100 per cent renewable electricity by 2030.
  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 75 per cent  by 2030.
  • Achieving a complete portfolio of bio-based and/or recycled materials by 2030.

"Sustainability is core to our strategy, and we are committed to demonstrating that to the world," said Günter Margraf, Director of Sustainability at Envalior. "Our goals are ambitious but meeting them is crucial to ensuring the necessary transformation for a sustainable future, both for our industry and our customers."

Envalior's commitment to the UN Global Compact involves adhering to the initiative's Ten Principles, which promote human rights, labor, environmental responsibility, and anti-corruption. As a participant, Envalior pledges to embed these values into its business model, providing annual updates on its progress.

Highlighting Envalior's alignment with sustainable development, CEO Calum McLean remarked, "It is an honour to affirm Envalior's support for the UN Global Compact. This commitment integrates the principles of the Compact into our company's strategy, culture, and daily operations, while fostering partnerships that contribute to the United Nations' broader development goals."

As part of its mission, Envalior supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on goals where the company's operations can make the most impact:

  • SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy – Envalior is advancing clean energy usage through renewable power purchase agreements and solar panel installations, helping it transition to 100 per cent renewable electricity by 2030.
  • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – The company is committed to creating a fully circular portfolio with bio-based and recycled alternatives.
  • SDG 13: Climate Action – Initiatives like the nitrous oxide reduction plant in Antwerp, Belgium, cut emissions by approximately 450,000 tons of CO2 equivalent annually, aligning with Envalior's climate goals.
  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – Through collaborative efforts, Envalior aims to amplify its contributions to sustainable development alongside global partners.
