Surkha (N) Lignite mine of Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC) has been awarded with the FIMI Sitaram Rungta Award for social responsibility.

The award was presented to GMDC by V.L. Kantha Rao, IAS, Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Mines in acknowledgement of the contributions to community development efforts in and around the mine area.
