The first semiconductor park in Uttar Pradesh is set to be established near the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Greater Noida. The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated 225 acres of land in Sector 10 and Sector 28 for this significant initiative, granting approvals to three companies.

Arun Vir Singh, Chief Executive Officer of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), informed Local18 that Kaynes Semicon Private Limited and Vama Sundari Investments have been allotted 50 acres each in Sector 10. Additionally, 125 acres in Sector 28 will be allocated to another company, TURCK. These approvals have been forwarded to the central government for final clearance.

The construction of these semiconductor units is expected to commence soon, with regular monitoring planned to ensure timely progress. This initiative is poised to provide substantial employment opportunities and enhance local manufacturing capabilities.

Vama Sundari Investments is set to establish a semiconductor unit on its 50-acre plot, projected to create jobs for approximately 13,780 individuals. The facility aims to produce 240,000 chips per month, requiring 19 MW of electricity and 2,000 MLD of water. Kaynes Semicon Private Limited, occupying another 50 acres, will also require significant power resources.

Meanwhile, TURCK will develop its semiconductor unit on the 125-acre parcel in Sector 28. Collectively, these three companies are expected to invest between ₹40,000 crore and ₹80,000 crore in the project areas.

CEO Arun Vir Singh highlighted the strategic importance of semiconductors, which are essential components in computers, mobile phones, automotive systems, and various other electronic devices. He emphasised that increasing domestic chip production could revolutionise the automobile industry and reduce India's dependency on foreign imports, especially in light of supply chain disruptions caused by the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The semiconductor park in Greater Noida marks a significant step towards achieving technological self-reliance for India. By addressing the critical shortage of semiconductor chips, this development is poised to play a crucial role in advancing the nation's technological infrastructure.
