Achilles Information Limited, a global leader in supply chain sustainability and risk management solution, recently announced the appointment of Amitava Baksi as Achilles Ambassador for the steel sector. He joins the global network of Achilles Ambassadors. Baksi will foster collaborations and partnerships to develop sustainable practices and resilience in supply chain within the steel industry. His role also incorporates identifying and cultivating business development opportunities for Achilles India.

Baksi possesses an experience of almost four decades in leadership. He is a mechanical engineering graduate from the Birla Institute of Technology. Prior to his appointment in Achilles Information Ltd,. Baksi served as Chief Procurement Officer at Tata Steel. Along with working in multiple senior executive roles at Tata Steel, Baksi also served as Managing Director at Jamipol, a joint venture promoted by Tata Steel.
He worked in multiple positions in diverse industry associations including chairman of the Institution of Engineers (India), Jamshedpur Centre, Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII)—Jamshedpur Zonal Council, and member of the CII Jharkhand Council. Baksi currently serves as the President of the Association of Supply Chain Professionals (ASCP, India).
His contributions were recognised with various awards including the ‘Eminent Engineer' award in 2010, ‘Distinguished Engineer' award in 2013 by the Institution of Engineers (India), and the 'Outstanding Leader in Procurement' recognition by the Institution of Supply Chain Management (ISCM) in 2016. Baksi is also an active board member of MVS ACMEI Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Steel City Press Pvt. Ltd., and Arush Metals Ltd.
