Two of the global leaders in steelmaking, AM/NS a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel recently announced the launch of their new colour coated steel brand- ‘Optigal'.
Optigal is ArcelorMittal's patented brand in the Europe and is currently only available in the global markets, however, the company is pioneering in the production and distribution of the steel brand in India.
With its launch, by Dilip Oommen, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Optigal's production has commenced in Maharashtra's Pune. This is the beginning phase of the company's wider production strategy that will expand to various plants in near future.
Optigal provides a warranty of 25 years, which proves to be the longest of any colour-coated steel brand in India. The new brand's production process incorporates hot dip coating of steel strip in zinc, aluminium and magnesium alloy. Magnesium elevates durability and performance. Free of hexavalent chromium and heavy materials, Optigal promotes safety and sustainability.
Speaking about the new brand, Ranjan Dhar, Director and Vice-President (VP) of Sales and Marketing, ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel India (AM/NS), said, "The introduction of Optigal® is an important addition to our growing product portfolio. This launch reaffirms our commitment to delivering word-class, innovative, and sustainable steels to our customers nationwide in line with our brand promise – ‘Smarter Steels, Brighter Futures'. The efforts also reflect our corporate campaign 'Banaunga Main, Banega Bharat', apart from highlighting our contribution to ‘Make in India' initiative."
With a current capacity of 700,000 tonnes , AM/NS plans to increase the capacity to 1 million tonnes by 2026. The company's market share is projected to grow from 20-22 per cent to 25-27 per cent.
Optigal is widely applicable for roofing, fencing and cladding for both, residential and commercial projects. It provides reliable materials for pre- engineered buildings, architectural facades, airports, industrial warehouses and stadiums.
