"NTRA sees a lot of exports coming in from India into the Egyptian market and wants to ensure the highest standard from incoming products as per the International norms and certification. Regulations are put in place with immediate effect.
"The norms are based on EU directives to ensure highest product standards and safety for telecom products which are entering the Indian market", said Thomas Fuhrmann, CEO & Managing Director, TUV Rheinland India. "The selection of TUV Rheinland by NTRA as their testing and certification partner in India is based on our solid strengths in testing and inspection and rich experience in certification especially in the field of Telecom & IT equipment, as well as a commitment to impartiality and independence."
NTRA has issued a set of rules and specifications for telecom equipment to be introduced in the Egyptian market. Equipment is considered approved once it is found to be complying with the conformity forms set for each type.
All forms of telecommunication equipment used in Egypt require an NTRA Type Approval Certificate. This includes terminal equipment, radio communication equipment and all indoor/outdoor, wired/wireless IT communication equipment.
The telecommunications regulatory arrangements apply to any person, business, or company that is the initial point of supply of customer telecom equipment to the Egyptian market.
