"Chennai is the thriving location attracting reputed international players in the automobile sector. The region has not only become the leader in automobile manufacturing in India but is also the largest exporter of automobiles and components that conform to the global quality standards.

"This made us to come to Chennai not only to cater to the market that demands Japanese technology in automobile components but also to markets outside India. The relatively competitive cost structure, availability of raw materials, skilled and qualified work force, the infrastructure in Chennai and market demand are the other factors that make international brands set up their manufacturing units here in Chennai," said Masatake Nishiura, President of Nishiura.

With India's rapidly growing automotive sector, India is forecast to become the world's fourth largest automobile manufacturing nation by 2020, with a growth of approximately 3.5 million units today to over 7 million units.

In response to the level of demand, and supported by the Indian Government's ‘Make In India' programme, which has been designed to transform India into a global manufacturing hub, many automotive manufacturers have been establishing an increased presence in Chennai considering its social infrastructure for manufacturing.
