The UNITED GRINDING Group is a global leader in manufacturing advanced grinding machines, EDM machines, laser machines, measuring machines, and tools for additive manufacturing. It represents a diverse portfolio of prestigious brands, including MÄGERLE, BLOHM, JUNG, STUDER, SCHAUDT, MIKROSA, WALTER, EWAG, and IRPD, as well as competence centres in America and Asia. UNITED GRINDING is known for combining unparalleled application knowledge with cutting-edge technology and service offerings to produce high-precision components.
At this year's IMTEX exhibition, UNITED GRINDING highlighted key innovations that showcase its market leadership. Achim Schurius, Chief Sales Officer at Walter Maschinenbau GmbH, discussed their display, saying, "This year, we are showcasing two grinding machines at our booth: the Walter Helitronic Power 400, our best-selling machine worldwide, and the Studer S121, a high-precision cylindrical grinding machine."
As automation and digitisation continue to transform the industrial landscape, UNITED GRINDING is making significant strides to incorporate these trends into its grinding solutions. Schurius noted, "Automation has been a focus for years, especially for tasks like loading tools and grinding wheels. However, our new project, ATP (Automated Tool Production), takes this further. It's not just about transporting tools and blanks between machines; it also includes integrated measurement during the process, enabling fully automated production with real-time compensation."
Sustainability is another crucial area of focus for the company. According to Schurius, "The UNITED GRINDING Group is addressing two sustainability fronts. First, we aim to reduce the CO2 footprint of our production plants. Second, we are working on minimising the CO2 footprint of our machines. Our energy monitoring system enables customers to track energy and air consumption, helping us develop machines that use less power and air."
Looking ahead, Schurius discussed how evolving trends are influencing the grinding industry. "The industry is undergoing a significant shift, particularly in automotive. The transition from combustion engines to electric engines is creating new opportunities for tools and components. At the same time, we are seeing geographic market shifts, with industries and demand moving between countries. This is something we closely monitor to adapt and make strategic decisions."
When asked about the Indian market, Schurius emphasised its importance to UNITED GRINDING. "India is a very important market for us. As global markets shift, India stands to benefit significantly. That's why we are here at this exhibition—to strengthen our presence in this growing and dynamic market," he concluded.
